1. Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘bhikkhavo’’ti. ‘‘Bhadante [bhaddante (ka.)]’’ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca –

‘‘Yāni kānici, bhikkhave, bhayāni uppajjanti sabbāni tāni bālato uppajjanti, no paṇḍitato. Ye keci upaddavā uppajjanti sabbe te bālato uppajjanti, no paṇḍitato. Ye keci upasaggā uppajjanti sabbe te bālato uppajjanti, no paṇḍitato. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, naḷāgārā vā tiṇāgārā vā [naḷāgāraṃ vā tiṇāgāraṃ vā (sī.)] aggi mutto [aggimukko (sī.), aggi mukko (syā. kaṃ. pī.)] kūṭāgārānipi ḍahati ullittāvalittāni nivātāni phusitaggaḷāni pihitavātapānāni; evamevaṃ kho, bhikkhave, yāni kānici bhayāni uppajjanti sabbāni tāni bālato uppajjanti, no paṇḍitato. Ye keci upaddavā uppajjanti sabbe te bālato uppajjanti, no paṇḍitato. Ye keci upasaggā uppajjanti sabbe te bālato uppajjanti, no paṇḍitato.

‘‘Iti kho, bhikkhave, sappaṭibhayo bālo, appaṭibhayo paṇḍito. Saupaddavo bālo, anupaddavo paṇḍito. Saupasaggo bālo, anupasaggo paṇḍito. Natthi, bhikkhave, paṇḍitato bhayaṃ, natthi paṇḍitato upaddavo, natthi paṇḍitato upasaggo.

‘‘Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, evaṃ sikkhitabbaṃ – ‘yehi tīhi dhammehi samannāgato bālo veditabbo te tayo dhamme abhinivajjetvā, yehi tīhi dhammehi samannāgato paṇḍito veditabbo te tayo dhamme samādāya vattissāmā’ti. Evañhi vo, bhikkhave, sikkhitabba’’nti. Paṭhamaṃ.

2. Lakkhaṇasuttaṃ

2. ‘‘Kammalakkhaṇo , bhikkhave, bālo, kammalakkhaṇo paṇḍito, apadānasobhanī [apadāne sobhati (syā. kaṃ. pī.)] paññāti [paññatti (?)]. Tīhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato bālo veditabbo. Katamehi tīhi? Kāyaduccaritena, vacīduccaritena, manoduccaritena. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, tīhi dhammehi samannāgato bālo veditabbo.

‘‘Tīhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato paṇḍito veditabbo. Katamehi tīhi? Kāyasucaritena, vacīsucaritena, manosucaritena. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, tīhi dhammehi samannāgato paṇḍito veditabbo.

‘‘Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, evaṃ sikkhitabbaṃ – ‘yehi tīhi dhammehi samannāgato bālo veditabbo te tayo dhamme abhinivajjetvā, yehi tīhi dhammehi samannāgato paṇḍito veditabbo te tayo dhamme samādāya vattissāmā’ti. Evañhi vo, bhikkhave, sikkhitabba’’nti. Dutiyaṃ.

3. ‘‘Tīṇimāni, bhikkhave, bālassa bālalakkhaṇāni bālanimittāni bālāpadānāni . Katamāni tīṇi? Idha, bhikkhave, bālo duccintitacintī ca hoti dubbhāsitabhāsī ca dukkaṭakammakārī ca. No cedaṃ [no cetaṃ (syā. kaṃ. ka.)], bhikkhave, bālo duccintitacintī ca abhavissa dubbhāsitabhāsī ca dukkaṭakammakārī ca, kena naṃ paṇḍitā jāneyyuṃ [tena naṃ paṇḍitā na jāneyyuṃ (ka.), na naṃ paṇḍitā jāneyyuṃ (?)] – ‘bālo ayaṃ bhavaṃ asappuriso’ti? Yasmā ca kho, bhikkhave, bālo duccintitacintī ca hoti dubbhāsitabhāsī ca dukkaṭakammakārī ca tasmā naṃ paṇḍitā jānanti – ‘bālo ayaṃ bhavaṃ asappuriso’ti. ‘‘Tīṇimāni, bhikkhave, paṇḍitassa paṇḍitalakkhaṇāni paṇḍitanimittāni paṇḍitāpadānāni. Katamāni tīṇi? Idha, bhikkhave, paṇḍito sucintitacintī ca hoti subhāsitabhāsī ca sukatakammakārī ca. No cedaṃ, bhikkhave, paṇḍito sucintitacintī ca abhavissa subhāsitabhāsī ca sukatakammakārī ca, kena naṃ paṇḍitā jāneyyuṃ – ‘paṇḍito ayaṃ bhavaṃ sappuriso’ti? Yasmā ca kho, bhikkhave, paṇḍito sucintitacintī ca hoti subhāsitabhāsī ca sukatakammakārī ca tasmā naṃ paṇḍitā jānanti – ‘paṇḍito ayaṃ bhavaṃ sappuriso’ti. "比丘们,任何恐惧生起,都是从愚人而生,不是从智者而生。任何灾难生起,都是从愚人而生,不是从智者而生。任何障碍生起,都是从愚人而生,不是从智者而生。比丘们,就像从芦苇房或草房燃起的火,会烧毁有顶、涂抹、防风、闩门、关窗的房屋;同样地,比丘们,任何恐惧生起,都是从愚人而生,不是从智者而生。任何灾难生起,都是从愚人而生,不是从智者而生。任何障碍生起,都是从愚人而生,不是从智者而生。

"所以,比丘们,你们应当如此学习:'我们将避免那三种被认为是愚人特征的法,而采取那三种被认为是智者特征的法。'比丘们,你们应当如此学习。"第一则。

2. "比丘们,愚人以业为特征,智者以业为特征,智慧以行为而显现。比丘们,具足三法者应被认为是愚人。哪三法?身恶行、语恶行、意恶行。比丘们,具足这三法者应被认为是愚人。
"比丘们,具足三法者应被认为是智者。哪三法?身善行、语善行、意善行。比丘们,具足这三法者应被认为是智者。
"所以,比丘们,你们应当如此学习:'我们将避免那三种被认为是愚人特征的法,而采取那三种被认为是智者特征的法。'比丘们,你们应当如此学习。"第二则。

3. "比丘们,这三种是愚人的愚人特征、愚人标志、愚人行为。哪三种?在此,比丘们,愚人是思考不善的思考者,说不善的言语者,做不善的行为者。比丘们,如果愚人不是思考不善的思考者,不是说不善的言语者,不是做不善的行为者,智者怎么会知道他:'这位是愚人,不善之人'?正因为,比丘们,愚人是思考不善的思考者,说不善的言语者,做不善的行为者,所以智者知道他:'这位是愚人,不善之人'。比丘们,这就是三种愚人的愚人特征、愚人标志、愚人行为。
"比丘们,这三种是智者的智者特征、智者标志、智者行为。哪三种?在此,比丘们,智者是思考善的思考者,说善的言语者,做善的行为者。比丘们,如果智者不是思考善的思考者,不是说善的言语者,不是做善的行为者,智者怎么会知道他:'这位是智者,善良之人'?正因为,比丘们,智者是思考善的思考者,说善的言语者,做善的行为者,所以智者知道他:'这位是智者,善良之人'。比丘们,这就是三种智者的智者特征、智者标志、智者行为。所以......。"第三则。

4. ‘‘Tīhi , bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato bālo veditabbo. Katamehi tīhi? Accayaṃ accayato na passati, accayaṃ accayato disvā yathādhammaṃ nappaṭikaroti, parassa kho pana accayaṃ desentassa yathādhammaṃ nappaṭiggaṇhāti. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, tīhi dhammehi samannāgato bālo veditabbo.

‘‘Tīhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato paṇḍito veditabbo. Katamehi tīhi? Accayaṃ accayato passati, accayaṃ accayato disvā yathādhammaṃ paṭikaroti, parassa kho pana accayaṃ desentassa yathādhammaṃ paṭiggaṇhāti. Ayoniso pañhaṃ kattā hoti, ayoniso pañhaṃ vissajjetā hoti, parassa kho pana yoniso pañhaṃ vissajjitaṃ parimaṇḍalehi padabyañjanehi siliṭṭhehi upagatehi nābbhanumoditā hoti. ‘‘Tīhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato paṇḍito veditabbo. Katamehi tīhi? Yoniso pañhaṃ kattā hoti, yoniso pañhaṃ vissajjetā hoti, parassa kho pana yoniso pañhaṃ vissajjitaṃ parimaṇḍalehi padabyañjanehi siliṭṭhehi upagatehi abbhanumoditā hoti. Kāyaduccaritena, vacīduccaritena, manoduccaritena. 比丘们,具足三法的智者、有智者、善人不会损害、伤害自己,不为智者所呵责,并造作许多善业。哪三法?身善行、语善行、意善行。比丘们,具足这三法的智者、有智者、善人不会损害、伤害自己,不为智者所呵责,并造作许多善业。"第九则。
10. 垢秽经

10. ‘‘Tīhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato tayo male appahāya yathābhataṃ nikkhitto evaṃ niraye. Katamehi tīhi? Dussīlo ca hoti, dussīlyamalañcassa appahīnaṃ hoti; issukī ca hoti, issāmalañcassa appahīnaṃ hoti; maccharī ca hoti, maccheramalañcassa appahīnaṃ hoti. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, tīhi dhammehi samannāgato ime tayo male appahāya yathābhataṃ nikkhitto evaṃ niraye.

‘‘Tīhi , bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato tayo male pahāya yathābhataṃ nikkhitto evaṃ sagge. Katamehi tīhi? Sīlavā ca hoti, dussīlyamalañcassa pahīnaṃ hoti; anissukī ca hoti, issāmalañcassa pahīnaṃ hoti; amaccharī ca hoti, maccheramalañcassa pahīnaṃ hoti. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, tīhi dhammehi samannāgato ime tayo male pahāya yathābhataṃ nikkhitto evaṃ sagge’’ti. Dasamaṃ.

比丘们,具足三法而舍弃三种垢秽者,如同被带去安置一样,必定升入天界。哪三法?是有戒行者,且已舍弃无戒行的垢秽;是不嫉妒者,且已舍弃嫉妒的垢秽;是不吝啬者,且已舍弃吝啬的垢秽。比丘们,具足这三法而舍弃这三种垢秽者,如同被带去安置一样,必定升入天界。"第十则。
